Design & Planning

Step 1: Come into our kitchen showroom in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire to see examples of all our contemporary and classic kitchen ranges and meet our staff to discuss your requirements. We will be able to show you the kitchen ranges first hand and walk you through some of the ideas and features on offer. We will also be able to show you the lighting, tiling, flooring and appliances, including those by Neff, Miele, Gaggenau, Sub-Zero, Wolf and Aga, which we have on offer for your project. We take into account your everyday needs, available (and potentially available) space, lifestyle and aspirations.

Step 2: You will meet an in-house designer who can bounce some ideas around with you about you new kitchen. It may be that a wall you thought could not come down can. It may be that there is a side of the new kitchen room well the layout works better than you originally thought. Over 25 years we have built a reputation of thinking differently to other kitchen designers.

Taking some time to create an accurate plan will make the rest of your project run smoothly. We will check the dimensions at every height around your walls, planning your kitchen around the smallest dimension. We check ceiling heights and how level walls and floors are; paying special attention to window openings and any problem areas we need to plan around, all of our cabinets can be ordered bespoke where needed.

Step3: Once we have all the details, measurements and specifications, our studio will prepare plans, colour visuals and costings for your approval. We take into account any electrical, plumbing, plastering and structural works that need to be considered. It is essential for preparation and cooking that lighting is used to create the right atmosphere for your space. We discuss the requirements with our lighting consultant and many clients insist on under floor heating in their kitchen. At this stage you will come in for a 3d architectural visualisation presentation of your space.

Step 4: At this point you may want to make changes to your plan and discuss suggestions of what you can and cannot live without in your kitchen. Following a final consultation to discuss the project you will be able to make a decision on whether you are happy to proceed with your new Designer Kitchen.

Step 5: Once the design is approved, the appliances are confirmed and the stone worktops and glass splash backs have been finalised, we will take a deposit and proceed with the order.

Step 6: We prepare any necessary building works in preparation of the arrival of the units. Our installers and technical staff will complete the whole project – minor structural work, boiler and plumbing moves, electrical, wall finishing and tiling are all handled for you. All our associates have worked alongside us for many years and they will carry out the works to exacting standards. Their operating area is throughout London, Hertfordshire, Essex and Middlesex.

Step 7: The kitchen units and appliances are fitted. Our stone masons then come out to site and template your worktops and fit these within 7-10 working days. The glass splash backs are then ordered and the final touches are applied.

Step 8: Once you are 100% satisfied with your new designer kitchen we will take the final balance and provide you with the necessary guarantees and warranties of your new kitchen.

A word about Cabinet Construction

All our cabinets are delivered fully assembled; the carcasses are made with 18mm thick heavy duty board. In the past many manufacturers used 15mm boards (and some still do). These extra few millimetres may not sound important, but cumulatively they have a huge effect in making your kitchen units less flexible and able to support more weight. We do not accept bowing shelves or mysterious gaps appearing.

The drawers are of steel construction, and you can have the extra option of wooden hand crafted drawers with dovetailed joints to match your kitchen. Both use the soft-motion closing system which is also available on base and wall unit doors.

Designer Kitchens have just finished fitting us a lovely kitchen. They impressed us at all stages of the process. We had some ideas about what we wanted but they were able to think outside the box and come up with ideas which no – one else did
